What do you think of the band U2?

I honestly think they are the ultimate band that grows and grows on you until you have a tumor of U2... My friend said "U2 has an edge to them that I don't particularly like" which, I think i kind know what he means (that Bono tries to sing with an attitude that only other bands can pull off yet his voice isn't the greatest and the style of their sound just doesn't match his frame). But still, i think are truly one of the best bands of our generation (along with Green Day and Coldplay), just because the instruments are tight and each song (at least on "Atomic Bomb") mystifies me somehow, like it'd be the perfect kind of music to get anyone to get through some seriously tough times. Unless of course you're in the war, then you might wanna go with Led Zeppelin or something. But what do you think?
